Affordable Spay and Neuter Services

The Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic opened a groundbreaking facility in October 2007 to combat our area's severe pet overpopulation problem. It is well known that there are far too many healthy, adoptable dogs and cats than there are responsible homes for them. As a result, every day animals are euthanized in area shelters or left to fend for themselves along our county roads. The Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic is the State of Alabama’s first high quality, high volume, affordable spay/neuter clinic. Founded solely to reduce the number of unwanted animals in Alabama, the clinic provides affordable spay/neuter services to the dogs and cats of Alabama. Since opening, the clinic’s veterinarians have performed more than 16,000 surgeries.

For more information, call 334-239-PETS (7387) or visit the Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic now www.alabamaspayneuter.com.

What is Spay and Neuter?

Spay and neuter are terms that refer to the surgical procedures that prevent animals from reproducing. Female animals are spayed and male animals are neutered. Commonly referred to as “fixing” or being “fixed”, dogs and cats that are spayed or neutered are unable to produce puppies or kittens.

Why You Should Spay and Neuter Your Pets

More than 12,000 animals are brought to the Montgomery Humane Society each year. Sadly, less than 40% of these animals are adopted. As a result, animals are needlessly euthanized. This pet overpopulation problem is not unique to Montgomery, Alabama, but rather exists across the United States.

Every day in the United States thousands upon thousands of puppies and kittens are born due to the uncontrolled breeding of pets. As a result, more than FOUR MILLION dogs and cats are euthanized in United States animal shelters every year. That number does not include the immeasurable number of stray animals that die on our roadways or at the hands of individuals. The only effective way to control this growing pet overpopulation problem is to spay and neuter all your pets.

It’s Good for you and your Pet. Beyond helping to curb the pet overpopulation problem, spaying and neutering your pets can drastically improve your pet’s health and life expectancy. Sterilized pets lead healthier, longer lives. Spaying a female eliminates the possibility of uterine and ovarian cancer and greatly eliminates the risk of breast cancer, particularly when your pet is spayed before her first heat cycle. Spaying a female also removes the mess and stress associated with a pet in heat to include incessant crying, display of nervous behavior, and attraction of unwanted male animals. Neutering a male reduces the risk of both prostate enlargement and prostate cancer. Neutering will also make your pet more affectionate and less likely to roam, bite, fight, or become lost. Neutering male cats makes them less like to spray and mark territory.

It’s Good for your Community. Communities spend millions of dollars to control unwanted pets. It is expensive to collect, house, feed, provide veterinary attention, and euthanize unwanted animals. Irresponsible breeding contributes to the problem of dog bites and attacks, posing a threat to some of the most vulnerable individuals in our communities – our children and elderly residents.

SPAY MONTGOMERY!

Have you heard about the Spay Montgomery program? Spay Montgomery is a new program that enables qualified Montgomery County residents to have their pets spayed or neutered for $10. To be eligible, residents must be Montgomery County residents and meet one of the following criteria:

At this time, this program is only available to Montgomery County residents.

The Spay Montgomery program is the result of an incredible grant provided to the Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic. The Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic is Alabama's first high quality, high volume, affordable spay/neuter clinic. The Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic opened in October 2007 with the primary focus of reducing the number of unwanted animals that are euthanized in Alabama by providing affordable surgical sterilizations of cats and dogs. Since opening, the clinic has performed more than 16,000 spay and neuter procedures.

The Spay/Neuter Clinic’s veterinarians are Drs. Davidson and Byars. Drs. Davidson and Byars are licensed veterinarians with more than 40 years of combined experience. We do not utilize the services of volunteer veterinarians, veterinary school students or recent veterinary school graduates to perform spay or neuter surgical procedures
