Pet Resources/Intervention Program

The Montgomery Humane Society offers the Shelter Intervention Program to economically disadvantaged residents of the City of Montgomery and Montgomery County, providing an alternative to surrendering pets to the shelter. If you are a resident of the city or county, meet the program’s income guidelines, and are facing the difficult decision of surrendering your pet, we encourage you to contact the Intervention Program first. Our goal is to help you keep your beloved pet by offering temporary assistance to those who qualify.

Program Services

The Shelter Intervention Program provides a range of supportive services to help pet owners in need, including:

  • Spay/neuter services
  • Rabies vaccinations

*The Montgomery Humane Society Shelter Intervention Program offers temporary pet food assistance to help families through unexpected challenges. While we are unable to provide ongoing monthly support, our goal is to help you during a time of need. This assistance is available on a short-term basis, and we encourage families to explore long-term solutions such as low-cost pet food options or assistance from local food pantries.
