Photo Contest Now Online!!!
Online VOTING ENDS TONIGHT 12:00am
The Montgomery Humane Society is proud to announce the tenth annual
Pet Photo Contest and fundraiser
With such overwhelming success these past nine years, we are certain that this year’s contest will be the best ever. With all proceeds raised by the event going to help feed and care for over 12,000 animals that pass through the shelter’s doors each year, we know that they are the real winners. Of course the pet receiving the most votes will also be a winner, as our cover pet for our 2009 calendar. So get your friends, family, co-workers, even complete strangers to go out and vote
for your pet. Who knows––your pet just might be the ultimate friend for life!
While there can only be one cover pet, there will also be
13 pets of the month and
70 pets of the week. - 84 chances for your pet to be in the calendar
Voting begins July 28th at 9:00 a.m. at Eastdale Mall and Online on 06/27/08
Votes can be cast at the mall, online at
http://montgomeryhumane.com/contest,
by mail, or by stopping by the
shelter.
Each vote is one dollar and there is no limit to the number of votes a person can cast.

end at midnight (cst) Aug 7th, 2008
Most important of all, proceeds go to help the shelter animals.

From hsus.org
• It is important to make sure that you pet has protection from heat and sun and plenty of fresh water. Heat stroke can be fatal for pets as well as people.
• Leaving your pet outside unattended even for a few minutes places your animal companion at risk of theft or harm.
• Take care when exercising your pet. Adjust intensity and duration of exercise in accordance with the temperature. On hot days, save longer walks and games of catch for the cooler mornings and evenings. Be especially careful with short-nosed dogs like pugs and bulldogs. Their facial conformation makes it difficult for them to cool their bodies by panting.
• Don’t chain or tether your dog. It allows no opportunity for exercise and socialization, and when done for long periods of time can lead to behavior problems. Instead, set aside time every day to walk or play ball with your dog.
• Keep your cat indoors. Though your feline friend may wish to explore the outdoors, cats who are permitted to go outside are at an increased risk of disease and injury from vehicles or other animals.
