As we near the end of 2023, we at the Montgomery Humane Society are excited to share the inspiring progress we have made towards achieving our No-Kill Cat 2025 initiative. Our collective efforts are bringing us ever closer to a future where every cat’s life is valued and protected.

Closing in on Our Goal:

This year has been monumental. We are now just 103 cats away from reaching our target – a significant improvement from the 330-cat gap we faced last year. This achievement marks a pivotal moment in our journey towards creating a no-kill community for our feline friends.

A Leap in Lifesaving Efforts:

We have witnessed a remarkable decrease in cat deaths, from 524 to 274. This reduction of 250 cats signifies not just numbers, but lives – each with their own story and a chance for a better future.

Advancements in Kitten Care:

Our focus on the most vulnerable population, the Unweaned Kittens, has resulted in a notable increase in their save rate, from 44.88% to 59.44%. The continued dedication to this sensitive group has led to a decrease in deaths from 199 to 131, underscoring our commitment to even the smallest and most fragile lives.

Success Stories Across All Ages:

• Weaned Kittens: Their save rate has impressively jumped from 71.19% to 84.37%, with the No-Kill Gap significantly dropping from 137.1 kittens to just 36.4.
• Adult Cats: These mature felines have seen a life-saving increase in their save rate to 94.33%, moving the No-Kill Gap from 39.4 to -32.1, an indication of more lives being saved than lost.

Overall Impact:

Collectively, these efforts have elevated our Save Rate for All Cats to 83.98%, edging us closer to the 90% benchmark. The No-Kill Gap for All Cats has been reduced dramatically from 339.4 to 103 cats.
